Erin: 4th Class participated in MasterChef this year. We learned a lot of things along the way like reading recipes, measuring, budgeting and working together. I enjoy baking so I had a lot of fun! Even though we didn’t win we still had a great time and I was very happy for my friends who won.
Conor: We were divided into groups by Miss Hayes. We had planned to do a treasure cake but then we changed it to a train cake and called it the Choo Choo train. We worked hard on it and it was a fun experience.
Rachel: Miss Hayes set a budget of €30 and we were just 60 cent under budget! It was fun doing the shopping; we had to go to 2 shops to get everything we needed. We got an award for the biggest portion size. It was definitely the best thing I have ever done in school, it was really fun.
Matthew: I enjoyed it and I thought it was a lot of fun and teamwork. We learned to work together, improve our English, Maths, Art and SPHE. We used Oral Language in the planning stage. It was very tasty too!
Alison: I really liked how we got to do it on our own without Miss Hayes’ help. It was great seeing the different cakes. I really hope we can do it again sometime.
Sadhbh: My MasterChef experience was really fun. Our group was the first group to bake and our cake was called Messy Messy Chocolate. I loved MasterChef 2016!
Bianca: I liked it because we got to pick what we wanted to make and we got to be the judges ourselves. I learned how to cooperate with my team. I love the idea of MasterChef and hope to do it again.
Jack: I thought MasterChef was really great. It helped us with a lot of different skills. You had to use Maths measuring the ingredients, English reading the recipe and communication skills when planning. It was a good lesson to learn especially to tidy up as we go along!
Aaron: MasterChef 2016 was a great experience for me. I learned a lot of things about baking and icing cakes. I had a lot of fun and I was very happy with our cake.
Orna: MasterChef 2016 was very enjoyable and fun. We made a cake with Kit Kats around it and crushed up Oreos on top. I really enjoyed the MasterChef experience.
Ava: My favourite part about MasterChef was making our creation called the Choo Choo Train and tasting other group’s creations.
Christopher: I enjoyed the way you got to bake with your friends, it was extraordinary!
Grace: The icing on our cake was lovely and creamy and the decorations were beautiful. It tasted really delicious and we really enjoyed it. Our group thanks Miss Hayes for MasterChef Week!
Emma: It was so much fun baking a cake but at the same time it was hard. I enjoyed it so much and we stayed within our budget. It was nice to get to taste our own cake at the end, it was delicious!
Melissa: My favourite part was baking. I had so much fun baking our cake. It wasn’t all about the winners, it was about the fun and everyone had fun.
Jessica: I enjoyed it because I like baking with my friends in school. We won a certificate for best aroma. Miss Hayes is the best teacher ever!
Sam: MasterChef was fun because we got to bake and design a cake. It was really fun to bake and work together as a team to create a master piece!
Billy: On the day of MasterChef we all had different parts to do. My job was to melt the chocolate and mix the egg whites. The cake was yummy and I loved doing MasterChef with my friends.
Tara: I enjoyed practising making the cake at Sam’s house and that was why we were better organised when we made it at school. We won best taste and had great fun overall.
Abby: I loved my MasterChef experience. It was so much fun tasting all the cakes. Every cake was amazing. I loved their presentation and taste. My team
had great craic. I loved everything about it. I had a great time doing MasterChef!
Gavin: It was great fun from start to end! I learned about hygiene, presentation, taste and texture. I enjoyed working with my teammates and getting the feedback from the judges. It was a great success!
Olivia: My MasterChef experience was an amazing one. In the end we got marked best taste/texture! I’m really glad about that and so are my teammates. I love MasterChef!
Luke: I liked doing MasterChef because we learned how to work as a team. I also liked eating all the desserts at the end! My favourite part was making the creation my team and I had thought of. We had so much fun working as a team. I know my team did not win but it’s not all about winning, it’s about taking part.
Aimee: Competing in MasterChef I learned a lot more about baking. I loved it. It would be great to do it again. At the beginning I wasn’t that close friends with some people in my group but I am now. I loved doing MasterChef, it was great fun.
Finn: MasterChef was awesome! When we went to school the next week and it turned out we had won I was so happy. I’ll remember MasterChef forever.
Ellen: It was really fun practising making the cake and eating it of course. I really liked being able to pick the recipe and decorations, it was nice to have independence. It was hard to have everything organised for the day we were baking but we did it. It was so much fun getting to bake in class and we got to miss class work! I was so happy we won, it felt great. I had so much fun doing MasterChef!
Cian: MasterChef was so much fun. I wish we could do it every day in school! Miss Hayes is the funniest teacher I ever had. MasterChef was one of the best things I ever completed in all my school history!
Scott: It was really fun and every group’s cake was delicious. My group was called Chocolate Heaven. I liked how every group was happy with the award they got. Every group had good hygiene and a nice cake. Everyone worked really well together and showed great teamwork.
Philip: I loved decorating and designing the cake. I found that the hardest part was putting the two cakes together and the butter icing. We decorated it perfectly and put my banner on top. When it turned out we won I couldn’t believe it!
Alicia: I loved doing MasterChef because I love cooking and learning new things so I think it was great that Miss Hayes combined two of my favourite things! It was also really fun to work with my friends when reading the recipe, using all of the baking utensils such as the mixer, whisk etc. Thank you Miss Hayes for doing MasterChef with us.
