Literacy week in Fossa School

Last week we celebrated literacy week . Every day the children engaged in different activities . We had artists teaching us how to sketch characters from books. A drama teacher visited for two days and taught improvisation ,Mime , choral verse, role play and voice work. All classes took part in buddy reading – older children read to younger children. Classes wrote spring poems, they wrote and drew storyboards. Cook covers were designed. Also children made book marks. Every class designed their door to look like a book. All children took part in drop everything and write  and drop everything and read initiatives . We wrote story of the day – every class contributed to a story and it resulted in a very good read !
On Friday we dressed as book characters and we had a wonderful parade in the Community Centre where Mr Clifford gave out awards for competition winners .
We had book swaps . It was a great week.
