The senior classes in Fossa school were involved in the County Final of Cumman na mbun scoil in Austin stack’s park in Tralee and were successful.
The winning All-Ireland Minor Kerry Team came to visit our school. Kerry team members David Clifford from Fossa, Mark Ryan from Rathmore & Dara Moynihan from Spa came with the winning All-Ireland Cup. The children sang a fantastic song for the players. Dara Moynihan was named man of the match so we were delighted to meet him. David Clifford spoke to the children and told them to work hard and to listen to their coaches, parents & teachers. He even gave us homework off so we were all delighted!! Ciarraí Abú!
Fossa NS held a fantastic sports days on Thursday. The children enjoyed various sporting activities during the day. The children played basketball, soccer, dodge-ball, orienteering, agility games, circuits and parachute games. The day ended with some very competitive egg and spoon races and sack races. A wonderful day was enjoyed by all staff and children. Well done everybody!
A fantastic football league was organised by Mr. Corcoran this year. The football league has been running for the last number of week during lunch times. It was certainly enjoyed by all children. The finals of the league cup and shield were held last Friday. The whole school enjoyed the Junior and Senior Finals. Senior Final Winners: Longford Slashers. A big congratulations to our gold medal winners Abigail Murphy, Alicia Burke, Alison Butler, Bianca Lejwoda, Melissa Ahern and Rachel Wallace who won the U12 Relay race in An Ríocht Track Castleisland. Well done girls. We wish you all the best of luck at the Finals in Athlone.
Erin: 4th Class participated in MasterChef this year. We learned a lot of things along the way like reading recipes, measuring, budgeting and working together. I enjoy baking so I had a lot of fun! Even though we didn’t win we still had a great time and I was very happy for my friends who won. Conor: We were divided into groups by Miss Hayes. Well done to James, Sam and Charlie who represented Fossa School at the Kerry Skills Competition for hurling. The boys displayed fantastic skill and technique on the day at Dr. Crokes Pitch in Killarney. Hopefully we will see them playing hurling for Kerry in the future. Well done boys!!!! Charlie Keating will now go forward to represent Fossa NS at the County Skills Competition in Austin Stacks Park, Tralee. We wish Charlie all the very best.
On the 25th May Fossa National School raised €400 for MS Ireland with a no uniform day. On behalf of the whole school 4th class presented Norrie O’Neill with the cheque. Also pictured are Norrie with her grandchildren who attend Fossa National School.
Well done to the victorious 5th and 6th class boys who came second in the town league basketball final. The boys showed great determination and skill in the final. A big thanks to Mr Finnegan, Mrs Murphy, Miss McSweeney and Mr Kelly for all their help with training. Well done everybody
